Recently, we got to chat with up-and-coming singer Kaya. Her music is produced by Ark Music Factory, the same people who worked on Rebecca Black's Friday. Kaya's upbeat pop song, Can't Get You Out of My Head has over 3 million views on YouTube! Check out our exclusive Q&A with the future star below. She tells all about her upcoming album and even gives YOU some words of advice on finding fame!
M: What was your reaction when you saw how popular your song Can't Get You Out of my Mind became? Kaya: I was really excited and super happy! It is so cool to hear from fans listening to the song from all over the world.
M: We heard you're working on new music. When will you be releasing the album? Kaya: In May, I put out a fun song about shopping called Glamaholic on the album Ballroom Remixed, by Melanie LaPatin, one of the choreographers for So You Think You Can Dance. And I hope to have an album of my originals ready by next winter.
M: What is the vibe of your album? Will all of the songs be dance tracks? Kaya: Many of the songs will have an upbeat, dance vibe. But some of my songs are slower, too -- the music fits the emotions of the song. Later this summer, I may do a dance video for Glamaholic with Melanie. I'm a dance freak, so getting to work so closely with her would be a dream come true.
M: In the video for Can't Get You Out of My Mind, you can't stop thinking about a guy who didn't treat you right. Has that ever happened to you in real life? Kaya: It has happened to me, and it's no fun at all! But it taught me that you should never let anyone treat you any less than amazing.
M: What advice do you have for girls who are trying to use YouTube to become famous? Kaya: YouTube is a great tool to promote yourself and to share your passion for music with a large, easily accessible audience. Consider helpful criticism, but ignore the haters. People who make a full time job out of trashing people on the internet are not worth thinking about at all.
