Breaking news for fans of The Hunger Games!

The lead role of Katniss has finally been cast! Newcomer Jennifer Lawrence was chosen over other hopefuls like Hailee Steinfeld, Emma Watson and Demi Lovato!

In a statement, The Hunger Games author, Suzanne Collins, said: "Jennifer's just an incredible actress. So powerful, vulnerable, beautiful, unforgiving and brave. I never thought we'd find somebody this perfect for the role. And I can't wait for everyone to see her play it."

Filming will start on the movie later this spring with a release date of March 23, 2012!

There's been a lot of buzz around Hailee Steinfeld, she stars in True Grit and recently got an Oscar nomination for it, and there's talks that she'd be perfect for the role of Katniss in The Hunger Games. Another person who's talking about her? Justin Bieber!

While on Jay Leno, Justin was asked if he would ever date Hailee, but he said she's too young for him. Justin said: "She's really nice and really talented. I think she's cute. She's 14, I'll be 17 in a month."
