M's X Factor Recap!

x-factor4.jpg
Hey M Girls,

Last week had to have been the most shocking week of X Factor yet! With some standout performances, and an unexpected elimination, we were on the edge of our seats the whole time. Missed even a second of the action? Don't worry, we've got ya covered in our weekly X Factor recap!

The Performances

The theme of the week was "Divas"-- and while we're on the topic, can we talk about how fab Britney and Demi have been looking? While both ladies are total divas, after the week's drama we think Simon may be the biggest diva of all!

Performing a "Diva" song is totally not an easy task, but some of the contestants did an amazing job! Check out our faves:

We wondered if Emblem3 would be able to pull off a diva song--and they totally did! The guys took Alicia Key's "No One" and put their own sunny Emblem3 spin on it:

Who could sing a diva song better than Diamond White? Her performance of Beyonce's "Halo" was one of the most powerful of the night. Afterwards, Simon said "I think we're looking at a future star"-- we couldn't agree more!:

Is it just us, or are Fifth Harmony's voices getting better every week? We're sure their performance of "Hero" left even Mariah Carey impressed:

Once again Carly Rose Sonenclar blew us away with a stunning vocal performance of "My Heart Will Go" by Celine Dion-- and she looked stunning too! We think Carly is the one to watch, and L.A agrees. He told Britney "it pains me to say this...but we could be looking at the winner.":

Which performance did you like best?

The Elimination

Tensions were high on the second night of X Factor because of the looming double elimination. Luckily, Taylor Swift was there to lighten the mood with the premiere performance of her new song "State of Grace".

After Tay's killer performance, it was time for serious business. The first act to be eliminated by America's votes was Lyric 145. We were totally bummed to see them go-- we're going to miss their high energy, and crazy outfits!

For the second elimination, it came down to a sing off between Paige and Jenelle. L.A and Britney both voted to send Jenelle home. In a shocking turn of events, Simon forced Demi to place her vote first. After a bit of serious drama, Demi chose to save Jennnel, but Simon voted to send her home! We were totally pulling for Jennel would make it to the end!

We were so bummed to see Lyric 145 and Jennel Garcia go home! Check back next week for another X Factor recap, and be sure to watch an all new episode of X Factor at 8/7c tonight on Fox!

M's X Factor recap!

xfactorjudges.jpg
Hey M Girls!

Here at the M office, we cannot believe how great all of the contestants are doing on the X Factor! Last week's episodes were some of the most exciting yet, so of course we have all the deets in our weekly X Factor Recap!

The Performances

The week's theme was "Songs From the Movies". It was the first elimination voted by the fans, and it seems the added pressure motivated the contestants to work harder than ever to give a great performance. Check out some of our faves:

Simon's Groups

There wasn't a single bad performance amongst the groups, but we totally think Emblem3's mash-up of "My Girl", "California Girls" and "What Makes You Beautiful" was one of the best of the entire night! We love their energy-- and so does Demi!

Demi's Young Adults

Of Demi's young adults, the stand out was Jennel Garcia. She rocked it out while performing "I Love Rock and Roll". We think her voice was perfect for the song.

LA's Over 25s

Demi may not think Vino Alan has the potential to be a pop star, but we certainly do! His performance of "When A Man Loves A Woman" gave us goosebumps the whole was through.

Britney's Teens

Brit has some serious talent on her team! This week we have to give it to Carly Rose and her emotional performance of "It Will Rain". We still can't believe she's just 13!

Which performance was your fave?

The Elimination

While we were not excited to see any of the acts go home, we were excited to watch One Direction perform on the results show! The guys sure know a thing or two about the pressure of facing elimination, so they chatted backstage with the contestants before the show! Check out these pics of Niall with Beatrice Miller, and swoon-worthy meeting of 1D and Emblem3:

After the boys' killer performance, it was time to announce the act who would be leaving the competition. Check this video to see who America chose to send home:

We were so bummed to see Jason Brock go home! Check back next week for another X Factor recap, and be sure to watch an all new episode of X Factor at 8/7c tonight on Fox!

M's X Factor recap!

xfactor-1.jpg
Hey M Girls,

It's been an exciting few weeks for all of the X Factor contestants! With two brand new live shows tonight and tomorrow, check our recap of everything that went down the first week:

The Performances

All sixteen of the contestants gave really strong performances, considering it was their first live show ever! The theme was "Made in America" and the judges gave their teams some tough songs to perform. This performance was crucial, because the follow day, each judge had to pick one act from their team to send home! Check out our fave performances from each category:

Demi Lovato's Young Adults

We were totally impressed with Demi's team! Each of the acts entertained us, and we're loving their makeovers-- especially CeCe's new blonde hair. Our fave performance has to be Jennel Garica's rockin' rendition of Motley Crue's "Home Sweet Home". Check it out:

LA Reid's Over 25s

LA sure had a tough decision on his hands. With some song choices that the judges were not too crazy about, LA's team didn't impress us as much as we were hoping. The stand-out performance was Tate Stevens singing Craig Morgan's "Tough".

Britney Spears' Teens

We're totally convinced Britney has the winner on her team! All four of them did so great, that it's hard to pick a fave. Beatrice Miller's version of Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" just might be our top pick, plus we love her rocker/tomboy style!

Simon Cowell's Groups

All four of Simon's groups really stepped it up for the live shows! While the judges weren't crazy about their performance, we really loves 1432's (formally LYLAS) version of Taylor Swift's "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Which performance was your favorite?

The Eliminations

The day after the first live show, the judges had the difficult task of turning the final 16 into the final 12. It seemed near impossible for them to get rid of a member of their team, and we're so sad to see them go! Check out the pics to see who got eliminated from each team.

LA's Over 25s- David Correy

We're still shocked about some of these decisions and so excited to see what happens tonight!

Episode One

-How cute is 13-year-old Reed Deming? His renditions of "It Will Rain" and "Grenade" had us completely in love. And if he looks familiar to you, think again. Reed said "I don't want to fall in the Bieber stereotype, I've gotta be me."

-Emblem3 performed an original song that surprised all of the judges. The guys, ages 15-19 remind us a bit of another X Factor boy band... (ahem... ONE DIRECTION!)

Episode Two

-We cannot believe Carly Rose Sonenclar is only 13! Her performance of "Feeling Good" earned her a standing ovation from all four judges!

-Johnny Maxwell is another artist who impressed the judges with an original song. Britney Spears told the 16-year-old "You're so passionate and fun to watch."

Episode Three

-The award for most unexpected performance def goes to 18-year-old Rizzloe Jones! His X Factor-inspired hip hop freestyle earned him four yeses.

-Brandon Hassan's bluesy voice had us swooning during his performance of "trouble." The 16-year-old earned the approval of Simon Cowell who said "I really, really like you."

Episode Four

-17-year-old Willie Jones was, for sure the most stylish contestant. His country voice had Simon impressed. He said "I prayed we were going to find somebody like you."

-Punky Julia Bullock decided to leave her band and audition as a solo act. Her cool performance of Pumped Up Kicks proved the 18-year-old has what it takes!

Episode Five

-Natalie Martin was super-excited to sing in front of her idol - Britney Spears. Brit was equally excited about the 16-year-old's performance, saying "you're a true star."

-We knew the second 16-year-old Austin Corini and his mohawk walked onto the stage, he was a star! Demi Lovato felt the same way, saying "I can see that sparkle in your eyes."

Episode Six

-After fainting backstage, 13-year-old Trevor Moran did a killer performance of "Sexy and I Know It." LA Reid summed up the audience's feelings, "You owned the stage. You rocked the house!"

Do you think Zendaya's "Swag It Out" video is similar to "Baby One More Time"?

zendayaswag.jpgHey M Girls!

We're totally loving Zendaya's catchy tune in her new single "Swag It Out" -- it's def been stuck in our heads all.day.long -- but in a good way LOL! Her video is super-fun too, but it did remind us a lot of another music video we love...Britney Spears' "...Baby One More Time"! We'll break down the similarities:

-Brit and Zendaya's videos both start with a school bell ringing and them in a classroom setting
-Zendaya dances in a school courtyard just like Britney does
-When Zendaya goes back inside school to dance in the dance class, she's wearing a yellow top..that looks like Britney Spear's yellow top she wore when she goes back to dance in the school gym!
-Both videos end with Zendaya and Britney Spears "waking up" from a dream of them dancing and singing in school

Check out the videos so you can compare:

Interesting! So let's dish:
-Do you think Zendaya's video is a lot like Britney Spears' vid? Which video do you like better? Do you like "Swag It Out"?

Comment back!
