We had a blast chatting with Madison Pettis about her new show, Life with Boys! We loved her in The Game Plan and Cory in the House and we're so excited Life with Boys is airing in the U.S.! Madison dished exclusive deets about Life with Boys, her most embarrassing moment on set, her sleepover at the Alli Simpson's house, and some celeb connections we bet you never knew!
We loved you in Cory in the House and we're really excited that Life with Boys is joining TeenNick! How does it feel to have your show airing all over the world?
It's really amazing! Life with Boys has aired in eighty-six countries now across the world, so we're super excited and we saved the best for last!
Definitely! Can you tell me about the show?
I think M Girls will really enjoy Life with Boys because it's a super funny show. There's crazy stuff happening, there's awesome costumes, food fights, and also there's lots of boy drama and conflict with Tess, my best friend--sometimes we like the same boy! We're always trying to figure out boys because obviously boys can be super confusing and hard to understand. I think it's a really funny show, but a really relatable show as well!
Can you tell me about your character?
I play Allie Brooks who is a super girly girl fashionista. She's a cheerleader, so she sort of hangs out with the cheerleaders. I love Allie - playing her is so much fun. She's a really fun character, she's different than anything I've ever played and she is Tess' best friend. They are sort of opposites in personalities. Tess is athletic and she's the only girl on the boys wrestling team. Even though they have different personalities, that's sort of what makes them best friends. They balance each other out.
I read you shoot in Canada. Do you ever get homesick for California?
Yes, we do shoot in Canada, so sometimes I did get homesick. I missed school and stuff, but the cast are some of my best friends. Tori is my best friend on and off screen, so I really just love being able to hang out with them on set.
What do you and your castmates do when you're not on set?
We're definitely like our characters! Tori and I love to go shopping and always try to talk about boys. We're always helping each other with boys that are driving us crazy at the moment. We give each other advice with that and all three boys on the show are just like my brothers. We love hanging out on set!
What's your most embarrassing on-set moment?
There was one time where I slipped and fell on set. We were about to start rehearsals and they're like "okay, just a couple minutes." So I said, "oh, okay, I'm gonna run to the bathroom!" I was wearing these knee-high pink boots and they had a little bit of a heel on them. I was running on the stage floor, which I shouldn't have been doing, and it was slippery. I slipped and fell and just wiped out on my butt and I landed on my elbow, so I had to go to the hospital and get X-Rays and stuff. That was pretty embarrassing.
We're glad you're okay!
I didn't break it or anything, but it definitely hurt!
I believe it! Who's the biggest prankster on your set?
Jake! He's the littlest brother and he plays Spencer. Since he's the youngest, he's always hyper and crazy and gives us all our energy! He's always crazy in the school room on set.
We love that you and Alli Simpson are BFF's--what's your favorite thing to do together?
Yeah, Alli and I are super close. Our favorite thing to do together - we love making Youtube videos. We've made a bunch of those. We have the Britney's Nerd video with Cody in it, we've done some mashups where we lip sync and dance along to some of our favorite songs, and the best friend tag where we answer questions about each other!
Do you have a favorite sleepover memory with Alli?
There was one time where I was having a sleepover with Alli and Cody was having a sleepover with Billy Unger and we were all watching scary movies and then we were all so freaked out that none of us could sleep for the entire night!
Do you have any weird celebrity connections that people might not know about?
I'm from Dallas, Texas and...so are a lot of other actors, like Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato! We all pretty much came from the same acting school. I've known Selena and Demi for like a really long time! We both grew up on Barney and we're all in the same area in Texas, so I've known those people for quite some time actually!
Do you stay in touch with them?
I haven't seen some of them in a couple years, but I've I've seen Selena at different parties and stuff and she's always like "oh my gosh, Madison! You're growing up so fast!" Selena's super sweet.
Have you ever been starstruck by someone you've met or someone you've worked with?
Yeah, I've definitely been starstruck. When Raven Symone came on set of Cory in the House, she came to visit the cast and crew, and she was like my favorite actor since I was like five. I loved her in The Cheetah Girls and That's So Raven was like my favorite show ever. So when she came to set and had someone introduce me to her, I could barely speak. Words couldn't even come out of my mouth I was so excited!
