It's M intern Toni here, bringing you an exclusive interview with 12-year-old singer/songwriter Anna Graceman. Some of you may remember Anna as a top 10 finalist on America's Got Talent in 2011, but now Anna is ready to debut some of her own music with a brand-new album! Anna's got an amazing voice, and killer piano skills -- check out part of our chat, where she talks about songwriting, meeting Taylor Swift, and her yummy secret talent!
M: Hey Anna, congrats on your new album! What does it feel like to have your very first album out?
Anna: It's really exciting. I worked really, really hard on it and everything turned out really good on it. There are ten songs on it. All of them are originals.
M: You wrote all of the songs on the album, where do you find the inspiration?
Anna: I guess, just everything is inspiration to me. I have a lot of friends whose parents have gone through divorces and that really inspires me cause, I mean, it's really hard. And so, I just feel for them, my parents aren't divorced but I can just see it, it's really hard for them. And then, just how beautiful everything is around us, the earth, and my family.
M: Tell us about your single Showtime! What's the inspiration behind that song?
Anna: I guess it's just everyday thoughts. Sometimes they just pop into my brain, like I say 'hand me some fries.' I guess, like in the chorus I say 'I know how you feel right now' I guess it's inspiration of 'don't let people judge you' cause I know there's bulling and stuff I know a lot of my friends have gone through bullying, and so don't let people judge you, don't let people get to you, just believe in yourself I guess that's inspiration.
M: Do you plan on touring any time soon?
Anna: Actually we're about to agree to this tour that I'm gonna do, it's called "America's Got Talent All-stars" and it starts in February, and it's going until April, and it's a forty-city tour 'round the United States and so it'll be really cool to go to a bunch of places that I've never gone to, so yeah!
M: We heard you met Taylor Swift! What was that like?
Anna: She was really nice! Oh yeah, but I was like frozen when I walked through the door cause, I mean, she's like, amazing to me and I love her songs. It's one of the things I really, really appreciate about her, cause she's an amazing song writer. I know how hard it is to write a song, and she just writes them like nothing. So that's one of the things I really admire. She's really tall, and really sweet, and she's just really sweet and really nice. She said to me 'just keep smiling and never give up or anything.' It was good.
M: Awesome! So when you're not singing, or writing music, what do you do in your spare time, any hidden talents?
Anna: I love to create things. You know, I like to create music and write books, but I also love to cook and do art and all that stuff. I like to make up my own little bruschettas. Like it's not just tomatoes, like I like to make dessert bruschettas at home. It's so fun. I made like a s'mores one, with chocolate, graham cracker, marshmallow. It's really good!
Before our chat, Anna gave us an exclusive performance of her single "Showtime" and the song she auditioned for America's Got Talent with, Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You." Check 'em out below, and click to our youtube channel to see more exclusive Anna videos!
Victoria Justice wanted to post a special video for her fans on Halloween yesterday, so she put up this vid with the message:
Hey everyone, so I was sitting in my dressing room waiting to be called down to set and I was hangin' with my vocal coach & very close friend Vincent who had stopped by for lunch.
When Vincent and I are together we love to goof off and sing. Since it's Halloween, I thought let's sing something that's related to the day...that's how we came up with "My Boo"!
Hope everyone has a great day.
xo,
Victoria
LOL! We think they did a great job with Usher and Alicia Keys' song!
Let's dish:
- What did you think of Vic's video? What other songs do you think she should cover?
